Interview with Daniel Costelle
Autumn 1944: The 3rd Reich is in a vice and is being closed in. the Red Army reached Poland and the Allies managed to get a foothold in Germany.
The film archives and the witnesses mention with a terrible violent recollections, the last throes of Nazism: in the snow and cold, the stubborn resistance to an army promised to defeat. The annihilation of whole towns under bombarding allies, the capture of Berlin, building by building. On the East, the path passes by the victors through Treblinka and to the west through Bruchenwals, revealing the horror of the Nazi extermination machine.
On the 8th May 1945, the same jubilation transforms Moscow, New York, London and Paris. Nazi Germany has gone.
